I absolutely love this year's winter collection from Doodlebug, Snow Much Fun. The sweet colours, the adorable little icons... A big chunk of the collection made its way back home with me, and I finally had the chance to start creating with it. I found an older picture of my niece standing proudly next to her snowman. This picture cracks me up because we usually get boatloads of snow during winter around here, so to have a picture where we see the street and the lawn through a very fine layer of snow is making me think that this picture was probably taken very early in the season and that my sister and brother-in-law were very eager to make my niece's very first snowman with her - as illustrated by the fact that they went all out with the scarf and the carrot nose as well!
For the background, I used a piece of 12" x 12" cardstock from my stash and layered a paper from the Petite Print paper pack. I based my design off of a Page Maps sketch and used some of the cut-aparts and some of the Odds & Ends images. I love when Doodlebug does houses, they are always adorable and I'm drawn to them, so I used the blue one along with a couple of trees and clouds. I added the falling snowflakes image underneath the larger cloud, and I topped both with velvet brads.
Instead of the two little pictures from the sketch, I thought I could do two tags, but I wanted to show the image of the little boy with his snowman and if I was placing the tag high enough to show the image, the top was too high on the page and it was throwing the balance off, so I tore the top of the tag off, and I ended up placing it underneath on the side as an embellishment instead. I added a second piece of torn blue paper at the top, and a layer of sparkly purple washi tape. I glued a mini white pompom as the snowball in the kid's hand, and added snowflake sprinkles and sequins.
I had purchased the snowman Shaker-Pop and made sure to include it at the bottom of the pager. The picture was matted with the diagonal stripe paper and I added a blue mat to divide the stripes and the gingham. On the cut-apart sheet, I found the words "Do you want to build a snowman?," which I was able to include on the layout to serve as the title. I added sewing around the page and the journaling block, and I added a snowflake wax seal I had sitting on my desk. (This is one of my favorites that I've done when I sent out my Holiday cards - i used pearlized white and aqua beads and used my silver foil marker on the snowflake.) I also made sure to include some of the puffy stickers on the layout. Doodlebug makes some of the best puffy stickers on the market - they are super adorable, have no white borders , have no wrinkles (it's a thing - unfortunately, Simple Stories puffy stickers are often wrinkly..) and the quantity is really great for the price point.
