inspiration: 52 Christmas Card Throwdown (Sewing)
I was excited to see that this week's technique challenge was sewing as I recently got my aunt's old sewing machine and was able to start using it on paper projects. I dug out an old Simple Stories collection called Merry & Bright and I picked a cute hot cocoa image cut-apart as my starting point. It was quite large, so I had to bump the size of my card to a 5" x 7" format for the image to fit comfortably on it.
Using black thread, I added zigzag stitching around the background paper and I matted the piece with Color Vibe cardstock. I had cut a white card base but the contrast was too bright, so I dug through my paper scraps and found a nice vintage paper that matched the greenish cream color of the mug nicely so I covered the card base with it. I added a chipboard snowflake to the mug, topped with a gem, and I got my sentiment from the cardstock sticker sheet.
I made a matching envelope out of patterned paper, using some more of my paper scraps to add a die-cut address block on it.
