Inspiration: Just Add Ink #673 (Doors + Windows)
I decided I wanted to create a gingerbread house using the Build-a-House and its gingerbread house builder accompanying set. I picked candy colours and once I was done, I looked through the Knit Picky Winter Petite Print to find a background pattern. I really liked the soft green to complement the teals and pinks. I decided to stencil falling snow and I used the Transfer Gel Duo, thinking I could foil the snowflakes for a different look. A little while ago, I had purchased white foil from Wow! and it was my first time trying it. I let the gel dry overnight and I applied the foil using my laminator machine the next day.
Here's the scoop: I was very underwhelmed with how the while foil looks. It is very low-shine so it basically looks the same as if I had simply used white texture paste. Usually, foil is so shiny that it really looks very different from any texture paste that could have been used, but this is not the case here. It feels like a wasted purchase, but I am thinking if I'm using it over an inked background, this might be where I can get a very opaque look whereas using texture paste could suck the colour of the inks. Anyway, I ended up with a very boring background and the card did not feel complete, even with the addition of the sparkly snow at the bottom, the house and the little gingerbread men.
So I pulled out the Simple Puffy Cloud Frames and die-cut two out of white glimmer paper, then I also added the XOXOXO Line Border, cut from metallic kraft-stock in a soft champagne colour. This really helped make the card more finished.

This is absolutely adorable! I love the scene you've created and the colours you used, so sweet. Thanks for sharing it with us at Just Add Ink. BTW, I hear you re texture paste soaking up ink colours underneath - apparently the solution is to use opaque grit paste instead. Hope that helps!
