Inspiration: Mojo Monday #207 + Festive Friday #140 (Black + White + Squares + Landscape)
I had put aside the Special Delivery shaker kit from Queen & Co, hoping to use it on my Christmas cards, and when I started working with the Christmas Delivery papers, the truck on the front of the paper pad made me think that I could combine the two together.
I decided to make my truck out of red foil paper. I cut the box out of grey woodgrain paper and the wheels out of black foam, which looks really cool. I used the white holographic paper from Sizzix to cut the snowflakes to go in the back of the truck. I decided to make it a shaker, so I glued the snowflakes to a piece of acetate, added the shaker frame, filled it with small white diamond dots and a few red clay hearts and I added the wood frame over it. I had also cut a little gift box and I tried it in the back of the truck but I was not liking the look, so I ended up popping it through the front window of the truck instead. While the kit does not add details to the front and the back of the truck, it didn't look right to me without any bumpers, so I used the mirror die to create bumpers out of silver cardstock. I added satin silver pearls to the wheels.
For the oval piece from the sketch, I used the Essential Stylish Ovals dies from Spellbinders (which I love), cutting one size out of plaid paper and the next size up out of green foil paper. For the two background squares, I used my Wonky Stitched Squares dies and my Pinking Edge Square dies. The original sketch shows a banner coming out over the left side of the oval, but I couldn't make it work with the way my truck was facing, it just looked too weird, so switching it to below the wheels of the truck fit much better, as it grounded it. I used a sentiment and set combo from 4 en scrap to create the sentiment banner. (And since it cuts multiple sentiments at once, I was able to use another one on the envelope as well.)
I liked the bow on the card and decided to use the Creative Bows from Moda Scrap to do something swanky. I had initially placed the bow on the oval, but I decided to card looked more balanced if I moved it back, but I didn't like how it was floating on the red square, so I cut another piece of patterned paper and made it look like a wrapped box, which I ended up really loving. The double-sided paper really works well here for this type of bow, and I added a green wooden snowflake in the center, topped with a red gem.
I pulled out an A2 black envelope and started embellishing it, but then I realized that with the shaker part and the dimensional bow, this would be too tight of a fit in a regular envelope. So I pulled out red cardstock and my Envelope Punch Board and created an oversized envelope. I like how this card ended up, it feels both fun and stylish at the same time.
