Inspiration: Page Maps September 2021 Sketch + Simon Says Stamp Monday (Architecture/Building = The Dino Institute)
I love the Dino-Mite collection from Echo Park. I'm a fan of soft sky blue, navy blue, green and orange together (Stampin' Up! had a Simply Scrappin' kit in those colours ages ago and I used that kit down to the last bit) and the dinosaurs are just adorable. I had not scrapbooked our pictures taken at the Dinosaur ride in Animal Kingdom yet, so I purchased the 12" x 12" paper collection with that in mind.
My design is loosely based on a September 2021 Page Maps sketch, which I tweaked to work with the size of the pictures I had printed. The ones with the dinosaur bones couldn't be cropped so I moved the little image to the bottom instead of the top of the page, but I kept the title block and the little tags in the same spots on the left side. One of the cut-aparts had a speech bubble, so I cut the inside out with a kraft knife, glued it on white cardstock and fussy cut the outside. I was fully planning on creating my own title inside with Thickers, but I reverted to using the original text. I did take the opportunity to fussy cut it and pop it on dimensional adhesive, since it was already cut out.
I remembered I had little bones from Tim Holtz so I went to dug them out (pun intended) and I also found some rub-ons and Halloween metal pieces that had the words "bone" on them. The smaller "bone" tag went on one of the paper flags I placed on a large paper clip, and the "bone collector" one went over the fossil picture. I used Jack-o-Lantern Distress Crayon to fill in the words with colour. It was not the first time I used this trick, but I still find the result pretty cool.
I added a tiny bit of printed journaling at the top, but this page is quite simple, with most of the work being done with using the patterned papers and the cardstock stickers. Oh, and I will point out a little detail: as if often the case, the sticker border was not a full 12" x 12" (Doodlebug seems to be the only company that manufactures its border to make sure it runs the full length of the 12" x 12" sticker sheet). I figured I would have to cut the border in the center and use the title block to hide it, but then I got the idea to use pinking edge scissors to cut the band instead of regular scissors. Which is a good thing, because I ended up having to place the title block higher so as to not hide the dinosaur image in the corner, and so the place where the sticker is cut is showing, but the decorative edge makes it feel like a design choice rather than a too-short sticker.
