Inspiration: March 2023 Page Maps Sketch + Tic Tac Toe #206 (Flowers + Yellow + Gems)
I wanted to scrapbook today and I went back to the Disney pictures I had put aside. I picked the ones from the show we caught as we walked by the castle on our way to a ride. We stopped to watch, thinking the kids might enjoy seeing their favorite characters in their medieval costumes.
To highlight the colorful costumes, I picked Simple Stories' Little Princess collection. I used the Basics kit to create my base and I added stars to it using Tim Holtz's Sparkle layering stencil. I used Pearfection Glitz Glitter Gel, and Fuchsia and Turquoise Stencil Butter. The yellow felt a little flat, so I spritzed the page with Pearl Glimmer Mist. The mediums made the paper warp, so I cut the top and bottom off and layered the paper on teal cardstock to make the base sturdier and add a bit of colour. I turned the strips to the other side and glued them in place to add pink strips for added colour.
In the center, I worked with the leftover papers I had to create blocks, and I used the scalloped border from the cardstock stickers on the left. One of the cut-apart pages had an oval on it, which I die-cut and used as my journaling block. I added lines with a grey pen before handwriting my text to help me write straighter. To keep with the medieval theme, I picked the knight and princess images from the sticker sheet and popped them around the journaling with dimensional adhesive. I also popped the castle on dimensional adhesive and added it to the lower left corner. I added a little enamel heart to the door.
I recently cleaned and organized my craft room and I pulled the remaining chipboard pieces from a 12" x 12" sheet off to organize by colour, so I was inspired to pick the aqua flower from it and add it to the layout. I like how this balanced out the cutesy style of the other elements a bit.
For my title, I used four different alphabet sets. I die-cut a piece of teal paper as a banner to fit with the theme, and I picked alphabets that had the right size and colours. I knew the title would be too long to fit on the pennant, but I made do in the space I had available. I also used the Little Letters from Queen & Co to add my date at the bottom of the page.
To finish off, I sprinkled sentiment strips around the page and little gems stickers as well. I also added a tab and topped it with a yellow Dottie, and I added enamel shapes to my images.
