Inspiration: December 2022 Page Maps Sketch
This page recalls the story of how I had purchased a sweater at a British chain the day before we were heading back home and the clerk forgot to take the security tag off! The morning of our departure, I called the store the second it opened and asked what could be done to fix the situation. They let me know they had one of their stores at the Heathrow airport and that if I brought the sweater there, the salesperson would take it off for me. It was a little stressful to add that errand on top of everything else but thankfully, the commute to the airport went smoothly, the walk through security was not too long and the store in question was on the way to our gate, so it all worked out.
I wanted to use the lovely Let's Go! collection from Simple Stories. Since my journaling was long, I printed it on patterned paper using a retro-looking font called Bio Monster. It unfortunately does not include French accents, so I will have to add those by hand with a pen. The title was created with Simple Stories Color Vibe Blush foam stickers and Elle's Studio Coral puffy stickers.
Pretty much everything you see on the page came from the collection. I added a bit of Pool Color Vibe cardstock to mat my picture and I made a matching button using We R Memory Makers' Button Press. I have been watching crafting videos lately and I've noticed that some scrapbookers mention the rule of three, in that they include three elements of the same color or three of the same embellishments or three of the same shape. I gave that a try on my last two pages and I have to say, there's some merit to that logic because it does seem to create something that's very balanced. For example here:
- 3 round shapes: the Let's Fly Away sticker, the button and the earth sticker
- 3 square elements: the airplane window sticker, the Departures sticker and the Airline Bagage sticker
- 3 enamel dots: on the nose of the airplane, on the bag and on the sentiment strip
- 3 sentiment strip
- 3 tabs: at the top, near the little earth and the date label
- 3 decorative brads: on the three square elements
I never stop learning and growing my designing skills!
