Inspiration: Scrap Our Stash – January (sketch) + Lasting Memory Layout Challenge #631 (Firsts - First time my older niece met her baby sister)
My style leans more to the side of cutesy, but I can totally do vintage when it is done as beautifully as it was with the Simple Vintage Winter Woods collection from Simple Stories. I was really looking forward to the release of this one and dove right in with a scrapbook page.
My youngest niece was born on a very snowy day of January. The oldest was chomping at the bits to get to go to the hospital and meet her baby sister and we were slightly delayed because I first had to get my car out of a massive snow bank before we could head to the hospital. This picture captures their first moment together.
Most of the supplies used are from the collection. I did add epoxy hardware stickers from 49 and Market to the screws on the snowflakes to make them 3D, and the Curved Library Pocket dies from Elizabeth Craft Designs to create the side tag from the sketch. I placed a die-cut insert inside, along with the chipboard tag from the Decorative brads package.
For the page base, I used the pink paper from the Basics kit. I stamped some of the images from the collection stamp set and I added speckles with a grey marker and my spritzer. The title was created with the alphabet stickers from the Sticker Book, and I also used the numbers from the same alphabet stickers to add the date at the bottom. The word "winter" and the bird on the branch image come from the Page Pieces kit. I used a chipboard frame to highlight the pictures. Those are easily my favorite product from Simple Stories, as it immediately adds to the design and draws the eye to the pictures.
