I saw this grid on Instagram stating that the first three words that jumped out at you would be your 2023 mantra. Change, Trust and Care were the first three words that jumped out at me. They seem in line with what I'm hoping to see crystallize in 2023. Last year lacked in work-life balance since I was learning a new job and stretching out of my comfort zone, so this year, I am hoping to make changes to reach a better balance and to take better care of myself. As for trust, I need to have a lot of it right now to hope that things will work themselves out.
It happened that the grid was a salmon-pink color that perfectly matched with the Joyful collection from Cocoa Vanilla I've been using all week. It is a Christmas collection, but I thought if I focused on the more generic element from the line, I could make it work for this page. One of the papers had this large wreath that could only be used on a scrapbook page so I fussy cut it out and layered it over the pink plaid paper. I cut one of the journal card in half and placed a piece on each side of the wreath to add another pattern. I had played with Elizabeth Craft Designs dies and had this little pocket sitting on my desk, so I filled it with sequins, placed acetate on the front and added adhesive strip all around to create a little shaker. One of the patterned paper had 25 blocks with a countdown to Christmas, which I was pretty sure I wouldn't use, so I picked 20 and 23 and fussy cut the numbers out to create the date in my title. The other word was created with Banners Thickers.
I used PinkFresh's Happy Heart puffy alphabet stickers to write my three words around the grid. I just love that script font, especially in gold. The page was already pretty full, so I kept the embellishing to a minimum. I added a chipboard sentiment in the empty space, topped with a puffy sticker. I used a rolled rose that I had sitting on my desk next to the wreath flowers. I fussy cut the envelope from the 23 countdown block and glued it next to the shaker. I slipped a little pink die-cut frame under the shaker, added one of the puffy stars and a wooden button, plus a puffy sticker banner. And I added puffy stars and chipboard stars and called this page done.
I think I'm now ready to retire the Joyful collection for now and switch to something different.
