Inspiration: July 2022 Card Maps sketch
The new Card Maps quarterly sketches just came out and I decided to draw inspiration from them to put together more Christmas cards for the children's hospital. I started looking through my Christmas collections and Holly Days quickly jumped out at me. I didn't have time to make a lot with it when it came out last year and I thought the colorful, whimsical designs would appeal to children.
I was particularly drawn to the sketch with a tag as I knew this collection had a sheet of cut-apart tags that I could use. I picked the Dec. 25 tag and the Santa image from the cardstock stickers. Then I looked through patterned papers to see what I could use to go with it. I selected the snowflakes pattern for the background and the Ho Ho Ho pattern for the center. I matted the center paper with Shaded Spruce cardstock using the Perfect Layers tool. I used the same cardstock to cut a little dimensional banner using the Fancy Folded Banners die and I glued the Ho Ho Ho puffy sticker over it. I added enamel dots on each side and threaded white, pink and red baker's twine on the tag.
I didn't like having the Santa float on the card, so adding the scalloped polka dot banner grounded the image. The card still felt a little bare, so I added the little tab and a gift from the sticker book, and another cardstock sticker gift popped up over the Santa. I used my mini stapler to add staples to each side of the polka dot border, which finished the card to my liking. I use additional stickers on the envelope to finish up the set.
