I received the new Uncharted Mariner Distress Oxide ink pad today and immediately opened it to do my sample and also try it on a tag. I have to admit that when the previous colour was released (Villainous Potion), I thought that I didn't really need it since I'm not big on purple anyway. But it's the only Distress colour missing from my collection, so on a whim, I decided to purchase it along with Uncharted Mariner and don't they look awesome together on that mixed media heavystock tag? (Another item I decided to try.)
The stamping is done with Tim Holtz's Eccentric set and embossed in Vintage Pearl powder from Ranger, which has a nice white gold sheen to it. I spritzed some water through the Linked Squares stencil, but now that the tag is embellished, you can hardly tell.
Interestingly enough, my local store was trying to make room for the upcoming Holidays collection so they ran a Christmas sale, with a few fall and Halloween elements, including the Happy Haunting Odds & Ends set, that I decided to get my hands on while it was on sale. The ink colour I had blended on the tag went with the ephemera images quite well, so I decided to use them to embellish the tag. This is really random in the middle of June, but I've learn that you should never fight inspiration and go wherever it chooses to lead you. I auditioned a few images and ended up picking the black cat, the full moon, the spiderweb and a couple of stars. I was delighted to find out that this Odds & Ends set include acetate pieces - they are so cool!!
To embellish, I added gold foil pearl to the stars, crystal stars on the tag and Berry Burst crinkled seam binding to the tag. I also added Midas Touch Aqua Shimmer to the moon and stars.
