Inspiration: YouTube Tutorial from Pinstrawberryz + Simon Says Stamp Wednesday (Anything Goes)
After I was done with my layout using the Howdy! collection from Simple Stories, I wanted to make a card with the collection before putting it away. It was good timing with Father's Day coming up as well. I saw a tutorial from Michelle this week (Pinstrawberryz on YouTube) where she overlays a piece of patterned paper in which she die-cut a window over a card base. The idea was interesting and I thought it would look cool with the sheriff image popped up in the frame.
I'm not usually one for flowery stuff, but I will admit I'm really drawn to the floral pattern on wood paper. I picked it for the top layer and used the yellow paper in the background. I used the Tasteful Labels dies from Stampin' Up! to create the opening. I was looking for something with stitching on both sides of the dies. This one actually has an embossed line on both sides of the cut.
A lot of the elements used on the card came from the cardstock stickers sheet. I usually like having two sheets of each patterned paper for collections that I love so that I don't have to pick a favorite side (or lose out on a whole pattern with cut-apart sheets). I've figured out that it's less expensive to buy two collection kits than individual sheets, which means that in those cases, I score a bonus second sticker sheet. This is the case here, so I'm using the stickers more liberally.
I love the end result. Check out Michelle's tutorial linked above if you want instructions. I haven't followed her measurements, though, I just went for a regular A2-sized card.
