Inspiration: As You See It #275
- Die cut or punch: Stamping Bella die + scallop border die
- Embossing folder: Quilted 3D folder
- Something starting with B: Ballerina
- Subtle Colours: Flower Garden papers
- Something Shiny: Embossing powder
I had the Flower Garden 6" x 6" mega pad out after putting together a layout, so I decided to create a card with it as well. I looked through my Stamping Bella images and the soft colours called to be paired with the Uptown Girl Stephanie Loves Ballet image. I purchased this image back when the company was still selling dies to go with their images, which makes it easier to incorporate them in more intricate designs.
I stamped the image in Tuxedo Black ink and colored it with Polychromos pencils, then I used a stump and mineral spirits to blend the colors together. I used the die to cut the image out and popped it on Mini Dimensionals.
I cut a piece of monochromatic aqua paper (which are added to the mega pads) and embossed it with the Quilted 3D embossing folder from Tim Holtz for Sizzix. It was my first time using it and the result was not showing up well. I tried running it a second time, with results that were still not what I expected. I will have to test it some more to see what's going on. Maybe the results will be better on cardstock than they were on paper. It also warped the paper, so the card is a little uneven due to it.
You will recognize the pieces of the sketch, but I had to flip it vertically to make it work better with my image, otherwise her leg was extending way over the card or the sentiment block was not fitting. When I switched the pieces to the opposite side, everything was immediately balanced on the card. I used the Mini Slimline Rectangles dies from Lawn Fawn to cut a floral panel and the Scalloped Borders dies from Queen & Co with the pink gingham pattern to add a border. I tied a piece of white baker's twine to the panel and I added crinkled plain collage paper from Tim Holtz for idea-ology. I received this roll as a freebie with an order and even though I haven't used it once to do any actually collage, I have incorporated it as matting layers on various projects so far. I like the soft texture that it adds.
I die-cut a Dotted Rectangle out of green patterned paper and I used the French version of the Biggest Wish stamp set, stamping "my friend" in Pear Pizzazz ink in the back, drying the ink with my heat tool, then overstamping the word "hi" in VersaMark over it and embossing in Pink Popsicle powder. For the envelope, I used an A2 Metallic Aquamarine envelope and added the ballerina on it using the Pink Popsicle powder again. I added a small fussy cut flower to her dress to tie in with the paper.
