Inspiration: Simon Says Stamp Wednesday (Feminine)
I have been so busy these past couple of months that blogging totally fell by the wayside. So much so that I actually received an email from a reader (hi, Jeannette!) asking if I had given up on my blog. I have a four-day weekend and finally a bit of free time on my hand, so I not only sat down to craft but also decided I should make a point of posting something as well.
It took me a little while to find where to start. Because I couldn't find inspiration, I decided to go to my paper stash and try to declutter a bit. I started with my old DSP collections and I found an almost empty Simply Scrappin' pack (remember those?). I looked at what was left and decided I could probably get rid of it. Most of the stickers are one tone, though, so I decided to cut the sticker sheet apart and leave the stickers in my embellishment drawers, organized by colour, thinking they'd have a better chance of getting used that way. As I was cutting the sheet apart, the wheels started turning and I got the inspiration for this card.
The design is based off of the Try Stampin' on Tuesday sketch. I made the tag using the Delightful Tag Topper punch (which I believe I got at half-off price since it's on the Discontinued List from the Stampin' Up! catalogue which is coming to a close in a week). I had previously die-cut tags out of the Layering Designs vellum, so it made a nice airy layering piece underneath the Rose Red scalloped circle, which I topped with a butterfly sticker. I used another tag sticker to stamp my "hello" sentiment on.
I created a card base out of Delightful Dijon cardstock and I added a layering piece die-cut out of Pool Party Core'dinations cardstock using the Foundation 4 dies from Queen & Co. I embossed the Stripes & Splatters embossing folder and sanded the surface to make the design more apparent. At the top, I added a strip from the sticker sheet and tied a piece of white baker's twine over it.
I'm really happy with the result, especially considering I was working with leftovers. Now, I can put whatever paper I have left in my drawers of scraps organized by colours and that's one less kit cluttering up my paper stack.
