Inspiration: In[k]spire Me #478 (sketch) + Tic Tac Toe #163 (Square Card + Ribbon + Dad)
I wanted to keep playing with the Hey Sports Fan suite and I decided to have a look at my felt sheets to see if I had colours that would match the Designer Series Paper. I was able to match most of the colours, except the red that was a little off compared to Poppy Parade, so I avoided pulling that colour into my design. I love how cute the banner looks done in felt, especially the paper pieced #1. It had not cut cleanly through the felt only because the details are so delicate, so I redid it, gluing the felt on cardstock first, and it made a huge difference.
It was perfect that the tic tac toe grid called for a square card since the In[k]spire Me sketch was square and perfect to work the banner in. To make a line with Dad, I also had to work ribbon in my design and that's the part that was throwing me the most. I initially tried to make the two lines on the left with punched cardstock and it was not looking cute. I finally realized that's where the ribbon should go and that solved my problem. I stapled it in place with my mini stapler and while I usually like the look of mini staples on a design, here, it was drawing attention way too much against the navy ribbon, so I looked through my embellishments and found those Vanilla enamel dots that were the perfect addition to the design.
For the sentiment, I stamped "Best Dad Ever" in Night of Navy ink and poured navy embossing powder over it. I die-cut the sentiment with the ticket and a second ticket out of Night of Navy cardstock so that I could make the ends a different colour. I added little resin stars in the corner. I distressed some of the edges of the patterned papers and I assembled my card.
There were quite a few elements I had put together to try on the card and I made a cute layered ticket with the pieces that were leftover on my desk, which I worked inside the card. I used some of the unused fussy cut and die-cut banners to decorate a matching envelope.
