Inspiration: Festive Friday #102 (pink + sparkle + hearts)
This is another background piece that was created when I played with my white woodgrain cardstock. This time, I inked the background using a blending tool and Distress Oxide pads in Kitsch Flamingo, Spiced Marmalade and Wilted Violet. I pulled out the Drawn Hearts stencil from Simon Says Stamp and I decided to try dying white texture paste with Nuvo's shimmer powders. I was pleasantly surprised: you barely need any powder to get a very strong and even color. I usually use reinkers, but I'll have to remember that option as it worked really well.
I loved the result I got and when I sat to craft today, I kept circling back to this piece but I couldn't find what to use with it, as I didn't want to hide it too much. Since inspiration was not coming, I was just about to pull it back and then I spotted some purple clay discs I received as a freebie with an order on my desk. Purple is one of my less-used colours but I noticed that it was matching my paper well, so I thought I could make a shaker using the Picture Perfect dies from Avery Elle. The wheels were now rolling, so I sat back down, pulled the background paper again and this time, I got going on my card.
I made the shaker out of holographic paper and I used Peekaboo Peach cardstock to stack the same die-cuts several time and create the box. I added acetate underneath, filled the shaker with the clay discs and additional sequins, then I added more acetate and my holographic piece.
I had put aside my Warm Wishes stamp set from The Greeting Farm, hoping to use it again soon, so I inked the little girl and the cute bundled bear and colored them both with Copics in matching colours. I don't have matching dies for this set, so I fussy cut it out. To fill in the space more, I die-cut the film strip out of Flirty Flamingo cardstock and added it at the bottom of the card, layering my images over it, popped up on foam adhesive.
At the top, I added a little heart die-cut with the Mixed Media Motifs dies from Sizzix. I found the sentiment "sending our best wishes" in a Stampin' Up! set, which I bubbled cut and added to the shaker.
I didn't want to cut the hanging part of the film strip as I liked having it go over the edge, so I made an oversized envelope out of Flirty Flamingo paper in a larger size to accommodate the card. I added another heart from the same dies set on it.
