Inspiration: Just Us Girls #620 + Simon Says Stamp Monday (food/drink)
Ever since Lawn Fawn released its Screen Time stamp set, I've wanted a cute couch stamp to go with it so that the two kids would have somewhere to sit while playing video games. I got way too excited when Window Scene: Winter came out last fall with that couch that I had long been waiting for. (By the way, I'm following Lawn Fawn's release week and I saw that there's a Window Scene: Spring set coming up - not surprised, I was kind of expecting a series based on the fact that the first had a colon followed by winter, but now I'm really curious to see what's in the set along with the Spring scene...)
I went through my 6" x 6" paper pads and noticed that Into the Woods was matching the Fusion challenge colours very nicely. I made wallpaper out of the teal paper, then I stamped and colored the window scene and added white-embossed falling snow. I cut curtains out of the orange grid paper and the curtain rod out of copper foil paper. I also did the two hanging elements out of foil paper as well.
I stamped the couch on white cardstock, colored the feet with markers and paper pieced the upholstery with paper from the same pad. I used another patterned paper for the cushion. I used my markers to add a bit of shading. The stamped and colored various images from the Screen Time set and die-cut them out with the matching dies. I created the wood floor out of paper from the same pack and added a thin white strip of cardstock to create the baseboard. I assembled my scene, using dimensional adhesive to pop up the images in the forefront. I added mini gold pearls to the holes in the top part of the curtains.
I mounted my card front to a Tango Tangerine card base and then I looked at the finished card, trying to decide if I was going to include a sentiment or not. I liked the little speech bubbles, which could easily be worked into the scene without hiding the rest of the details. I try not to make too many English cards, because most of the cards I send out are in French, but once in a while, I will sneak an English design in there when I feel I have better options in that language than I would in French. I'm glad I went with the speech bubbles, they work really well with the overall scene.
It was so satisfying to put that card together, as that couch scene has been a long time coming!
