At Christmas, my friend Anne-Marie sent me a beautiful picture of her and her little family. As I was putting my Christmas cards away, I kept this aside so that I could make a page with it and keep it in my scrapbook album. I was trying to decide which holiday collection to use and decided to go for Holiday Magic because I hadn't scrapbooked with it yet and also because I spotted a cut-apart that said "tree farm" on one of the pages, which fit nicely with the picture.
I sort of had a plan when I started this page, but it quickly went out the window as it was not coming out like I would have hoped. But I did keep the idea of using the big swirl background, cut along the colours so that I could distress the edges and curl them for dimension and adding matching stitching to each swirl. (As a side note, I lost a lot of time stitching parts of the paper that ended up being totally covered, but that's what happens when you are not really sure where you are going with a design.)
I started placing various elements around the picture to create clusters, using cut-aparts, die-cuts, puffy stickers and chipboard stickers. I added matching enamel dots on each swirl. I added a bit of journaling at the bottom of the page.
