I had a notebook purchased from the dollar store that I wanted to cover with some pretty papers. I hadn't made up my mind on which collection I would use, but I ended up landing on Happy Hearts so that I could enjoy its pretty colours.
This is a really simple project. I made sure to keep the cover really simple so that embellishments wouldn't catch on other things when I put the notebook away. I used a paintbrush to apply Distress Collage Medium (a favorite) to the cover, then I placed my paper over it, applied pressure with a bone folder to even the paper out and then I used an exacto blade to cut the extra paper off. I got a more precise coverage that way than if I had measured and cut the paper first. I added a border of washi tape for a bit of additional colour.
I matted a 3" x 4" cut-apart image with In the Navy cardstock from Gina K (I recently purchased this navy cardstock and I'm really happy with its deep navy shade). I distressed the edges with my distressing tool and added the image to the top center of the cover. I added two heart foam stickers.
At the bottom, I used a leftover scrap and added a little ticket that was fussy cut from one of the patterned papers, and I layered a chipboard heart in the center. Super simple, but much cuter than the mottled black cover that was previously there.
