Inspiration: In[k]spire Me #469 (sketch) + Simon Says Stamp Wednesday (Four-Legged Friends)
I wanted to make something else with the Sweet Talk collection before putting it away, so I ended up working on a layered tag and a card using some of the leftover pieces from my last layout.
I was particularly drawn to the two folk hearts pieces I had. Initially, I had inlayed the polka dot heart in the larger one, but as pieces were moving around on my desk, I decided staggering them might make my project more interesting. I also had this panda bear that was fussy cut from a cut-apart paper, so that was the start of the card. I picked papers that were not too busy for the background and added Cherry Cobbler scalloped polka dot ribbon between the two papers. I used the backside and hid the polka dot because the collection's base neutral is vanilla and the white polka dots were clashing with the papers. I did the banner at the top using a paper scrap and added a decorative brad on it.
The bottom of the card felt bare and I remembered I have tic tac toes from My Favorite Things purchased many years ago. I used the black set to fill the corner and on a whim, I added a piece of clear view film I had in the same embellishment box. This allowed me to add a puffy sticker and have it grounded on the design. I was really excited when the puffy sticker trend started, as those remind me of my precious sticker collection from back when I was a kid. That being said, most puffy stickers packs include very small images, and I've found it harder to work them into my design while making the scale work. The film strip made for a nice workaround. I also found black sugar coated brads from Doodlebug in the same ornament box and added one to the left side of the ribbon. To finish off the card, I added black doodling to the aqua heart and the top paper and gold doodling to the polka dot heart, plus a couple of enamel dots. I deliberated on whether to add a sentiment to the card or not, but I felt I would have more uses for this card if I didn't add a specific sentiment to it. (Or I could always add one to it later depending on the kind of card I need.)
As for the tag, inspiration came from spotting a cute tag set in the Scrapbook.com gallery. My tag is a little different, but definitely very highly inspired by the ones shown there. I added leftover tulle to the bottom and dotted hearts embossing on the back tag. This will go into my tag box for now, but might get turned into a card or added to packaging at some point.
