Inspiration: Simon Says Stamp Wednesday (Anything Goes)
You wouldn't know based on the size of the finished tag, but there are many hours that went into creating it. I was fiddling around in my craft room, trying to find a thread leading to inspiration. I had Tim Holtz's Crossbones stencil out on my desk and decided to ink a tag and layer the stencil to see how it would look. I grabbed a scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock on my desk and started inking with a blender tool... and I went down the rabbit hole. I inked and layered and spritzed and dried and painted and splatted and stamped and glittered until I ended up with this lovely tag.
A few details:
- The image was watercolored with Distress Oxide inks. I love the creamy look of it watercolored on kraft cardstock. It comes from a Recollections set called Haunted Scribble (purchased last year).
- I used Heat & Stick powder to cover the bats with Tim Holtz's nightfall Distress glitter. I find I don't get as even of a coverage with this product as I wish I did. The jar I own has been in my drawers for over a decade, so I'm tempted to buy a new jar from either Stampin' Up! or Ranger to see if it makes a difference (but it might not, so I'm afraid of buying in double for nothing.)
- I dyed seam binding using Distress Oxide sprays. I didn't have white or vanilla seam binding, so I started with Daffodil Delight binding and made it darker using a mix of Vintage Photo and Spiced Marmalade.
- The spiderweb image was embossed in Rose Gold embossing powder.
- I added gold splatter using Gansai Tambi watercolors and overstamped the word Spooky in Antique Gold ink from Altenew.
