Inspiration: Card Maps October 2021
I think this second card showcases the charm of the Make It Merry collection from Simple Stories better than my first one. Because the collection has a modern feel to it, I tried to reflect that in the design and pick cleaner lines than I had on the first card.
I followed the sketch pretty closely, but I did move the sentiment to the left and I skipped the ribbon coming out of the oval. I had put the Chevron stripe die-cut in between my two patterned paper and I wasn't liking the addition of the ribbon or cords I tried, so I switched gear. Without the ribbon, the bottom of the panel felt a little bare, though, so I added a couple of additional chipboard pieces to fill the space better and make the card more balanced. I also played with a few mini banner options on the left side before I was happy with the look. This adorable Santa is probably my favorite image from the collection (even though the retro chair, typewriter and phone are all tugging at my heartstrings as well).
