Inspiration: Global Design Project #314
My local scrapbook store owner added new items to her clearance section. I saw the Elfs and Their Shelf dies and remembered I have purchased this stamp set years ago. I checked out my stash and realized I did not have the dies, so I snagged them at the store for a very reasonable price. This set therefore became the starting point of this card. The Global Design Project sketch was working well with its horizontal line that I could transform into my shelf. I had found the Christmas Town papers from Doodlebug and was liking the colorful Christmas hues to pair with my elfs, so I based my coloring on the paper collection.
I had no clue what I was planning to make exactly, so I stamped all of the set images, colored and die cut them. Then I started playing with the images on the card and decided to do the elf pair on the shelf, the gifts at the bottom and the stocking hung on the corner of the paper square. The top of the card was really bare, so I added my die-cut Merry Christmas sentiment there. I used some red chunky glitter paper (a happy clearance find from Michaels two years ago) for the first word and Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper for the second word.
After making a matching envelope out of patterned paper and decorating the inside of the card with a leftover stamped image, I was left with the image of the little girl holding the sign and thought she would make a fabulous tag, as it leaves space to write the recipient's name. I used leftover pieces of the same papers from my desk to make a cute tag, threaded with red twine.
