Because I purchased the Summer papers from Carta Bella in 6" x 6" format, I wanted to try doing a pocket page layout to use this collection for a page. I realized this is the first pocket page layout I've done all year. Pocket page had initially brought me back to scrapbooking when I fell more into cardmaking many years ago, but I finally found my way to traditional scrapbooking again and don't seem to find it as daunting as I once did. I also realized that pocket scrapbooking is only faster if you slip journaling cards in the pocket and don't embellish much. In my case, I ended up making personalized inserts for every pocket, so as you can imagine, it didn't end up being any quicker than traditional scrapbooking.
I found a 4" x 6" picture of my youngest niece wearing her cute pink sunglasses and I decided to use a protector with six 2" x 2" squares around the main picture. The Mega paper pad included cut-aparts in that size, but they were all word-heavy, so I used a few and I used patterned papers, other cut-apart images, stickers and twine to create other inserts.
Because the main picture comes from past year calendars that my sister has gifted us, there was a little hole on the side of the picture. I solved that problem with a puffy sticker, and I also added a die-cut border and washi tape to fill in the full length of the pocket. At the bottom, I added another sticker and I fussy cut a little watermelon slice to add to it.
