I recently found the Look How Big stamps and dies at my local store. I thought the mages were adorable - you see a big owl marking up how big a little kiddie owl has gotten on the trunk of a tree. I thought that if I used the big owl on his own, with his glasses and pencil, he could actually look like a teacher and be used of a school-themed card. Since I had my School Days collection out today, I decided to give this idea a try and I am really pleased with how it turned out. Isn't this little owl just precious?
One detail to point out: I cut the Fine Frames Cover Die from Altenew out of a gold foil sheet and I've been slowly incorporating all of the different sized frames I obtained into my projects. Here, I added a gold frame to the scalloped rectangle die-cut. The frame was not the right size initially, though. It was too long, so I cut it down near the bottom, overlapped the sides and I hid the seams with the owl image and the little star sticker. Easy way to get more use out of those frames.
The "thank you" sentiment was die-cut out of Blue Cashmere Pearlescent cardstock from Tonic. I took a chance on the color as I was ordering online and you never know with colour, but I'm really pleased, it's a lovely soft shade of blue that is somewhere between cornflower and steel blue. It's going to pair nicely with a lot of patterned papers, I believe. I've been loving the glitter, pearlescent and mirror cardstock from Tonic. The quality and color palette is top notch.
I used the ruler washi from the same Carta Bella collection and a little clock sticker from the sticker book to fill in the space at the top. I added a piece of torn vellum underneath the sentiment die-cut so that it would be easier to read against the word background. I used a Fairway metallic envelope, decorated with a zig zag panel and a sticker to match. I think this will make another great teacher card.
