Inspiration: Mojo Monday Sketch #371
As I was working on my last layout using the O Canada 2 papers from Photoplay, I noticed the collection includes a few curling images. My dad has been an avid curlers for years so I thought it would be neat to make a curling-themed birthday card for him. His birthday is only at the end of June, but it never hurts to be ready in advance.
I started my design with the "rock star" cut-apart (bet that was not what you were expecting when you read the title of this post...) and I looked at past Mojo Monday sketch for inspiration and quickly spotted one that had a similar shape, so I based my design on it. I moved the circle behind the image so as not to hide the words. I wanted to use the broom sticker as the horizontal line, but it was not standing out enough. I tried matting it with the striped paper, but when things moved around on the desk, I realized it looked better if I worked with angles and placed the striped paper in one direction and the broom in a different one. This made the design much more dynamic.
To zhuzh the cut-apart up a bit, I added an enamel star to the center of the O and a star outline punched out of silver foil paper using two star punches. I matted the image with black foil paper and added two matte enamel dots and mounted the papers on a Basic Grey card base. I used matching stickers on an Aquamarine metallic envelope.
