In general, I don't buy a lot of shaped dies that require assembly, but the little His and Hers elves from the recent Elizabeth Craft Designs dies did catch my eye and appeared fairly easy to put together. I was curious to see what they looked like assembled so I put the girl together with scraps from my scrap drawers. I went pretty classic since I didn't know what I would be using her on. (On a side note, they are easy to die-cut and put together, but the pieces are really small! Look at those little hands and cuffs...)
Right now, the next thing on my to-do list is wrapping my gifts, so I'm thinking about gift tags to match. I pulled out the new Woodgrain cardstock I got from the latest Lawn Fawn release to make a die with her. I shouldn't say new because Lawn Fawn came out with woodgrain cardstock a while back, but they were previously offering an assorted pack. This time, they separated their colours into individual packs offered in white, kraft and dark brown. That makes me very happy. Assorted packs are a great gateway into products, but afterwards, I like to be able to restock on favorite colours. I decided to go classic and use the white woodgrain for my tag. I pulled out additional red and olive cardstock and die-cut a pretty cool "Merry Christmas" French die I found at my local store while picking up the new Lawn Fawn release. Sentiment dies are hard to find in French and the fonts offered are not always that varied, so I found this one to be really cool and different (and reasonably priced). Since the elf had been put together previously, that tag came together in a matter of minutes and I do like the result. I didn't string ribbon on it just yet, I'll wait until I'm ready to add the tag to the actual package to see how I go about it and which ribbon I use.
The next day, I put together a similar tag using the little boy this time. I used the Gift Wrapped stamp set and got the idea to use the bow image as well. I had a leftover Old Olive ribbon piece on my desk from another project where it was not quite working, which I used along with the gold-embossed bow image. The sentiment reads, "A very merry Christmas" and was embossed in white powder.
