Inspiration: Little Red Wagon #575 (Non-Traditional Christmas Colors)
I wanted to make pale poinsettias using the Poinsettias dies from the August-December Minicatalogue, and I found that it was a good occasion to pull out the Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP, which came out last year but returned in this year's minicatalogue. I picked one of the Pretty Peacock patterns to make the flowers stand out and I stamped and embossed a larger sentiment in the center in copper powder. I thought when I picked the stamp set that it was still current, but I think it's a retired one, unfortunately. The sentiment reads, "Friendship brightens the Holidays."
The flowers were die-cut out of Very Vanilla cardstock and I used my bone folder to give them shape. The leaves and centers were cut out of brushed metallic cardstock, also from the minicatalogue (p. 45). The result is so classic and elegant, I love it! Because I was not using the center on the smaller poinsettias, they looked a little bare, so I went through my embellishments and decided to add some iridescent pearls to them.
The finished card measures 8" x 4", so I made a matching envelope out of patterned paper using the Envelope Punch Board. I used my last die-cut flower and an address block die-cut with the Stitched Nested Labels dies to tie in with the card.
