Inspiration: Sketch Saturday #636
This was a fun sketch to work with and I like how the card ended up looking. I picked the Simple Vintage Christmas paper pack from Simple Stories. This one also dates back to 2018, that year where there was too many good stuff coming up to have time to use it all. I felt that the vintage look would be well suited to the cards I am making for the seniors centre. I was leafing through the paper trying to decide what to focus on and one of the cut-aparts caught my eye, with its adorable eggnog sign on a doily. It was a 4" x 6" cut apart, but I took my 2½ circle punch and punched the image out, to use as the circle from the sketch. I had many fun patterns to choose from, but I went with the music sheet and plaid patterns for the two bows. The stitching on the sketch inspired me to pull out my black Roughly Sewn Rub-Ons from 49 & Market. Not only did I add the line of stitching at the bottom, but I also added circle stitching over the eggnog image for additional detail.
On the side strip, I layered red paper punched with a scallop trim edge, crochet trim and some rhinestone border I recently found at the Dollar store. I added green buttons to the center of the bows and a larger beige button at the bottom, trimmed with Always Artichoke cotton twine, and of course I couldn't help adding two mini jingle bells on it.
The bows added a lot of bulk to the card, so I made an oversize envelope (sized for a 4½" x 6" card) out of one of the patterned paper sheets. I found a milk cap in Tim Holtz's latest collection that says egg nog on it, so I added it to the envelope as a tie-in.
