Inspiration: Tuesday Morning Sketch #579
The Greeting Farm came out with some adorable new stamps this year, including this lovely Holiday Anya 8. I paired her with the Farmhouse Christmas papers from Carta Bella for a classic look.
The Anya image was paper pieced so that I could have a plaid dress on her. I've learned with practice that it's often better to have a second image stamped on white cardstock and added on top of the clothes in order to have her arms be over the clothes, instead of looking like they are indented in the dress. For this reason, I stamped and colored her legs, then I shaded the dress that was stamped on plaid patterned paper with Copic markers, handcut it and added it over the legs. I then colored the top portion of her, stamped separately, and fussy cut this part and added it on top of the dress. Because I didn't leave any white border on her, I used the black marker tip and went over the whole border with the tip of my marker to make sure no white was showing anymore. I kept the earrings blank as I knew I wanted to use a gold marker to fill them in and as I was doing that, I also added a dot in the center of the bow and decided to add a gold line in the plaid. I love how much life that detail added to her look.
I kept the gold touches by gold embossing for my sentiment ("happiness and health", which is a good one to use this year), a narrow gold ribbon and gold gems. For the envelope, I fussed around a bit but finally selected an Anthracite metallic envelope, added a dotted scalloped rectangle in the center and gold-striped washi on each side.
