Inspiration: Mojo Monday #549
The Holly Jolly collection from Simple Stories came out either last year or two years ago and when my store got it in stock, I had a look and decided to pass on it. Then, when it came on sale, I thought about it again, and passed. Then it went on clearance, I leafed through the paper pad again, and decided to pass again. I must not have been the only crafter that did that because this collection stayed around for quite a while in my local store and online. The patterns are just really cute, but the colours feel somewhat off to me. That being said, I finally caved and decided to buy it and get it out of my system for good. It'll be interesting to see how I find working with the collection. I really love the cutesy patterns like the ones showcased on my card, but I'm not so sure about the ones that feel more vintage like the florals. I also got the ephemera pack, which made putting this cute card together fast and easy.
I used the adorable scooter as my main image and the Fa La La La die-cut as the sentiment. I tried out a few patterned paper circles but they were taking the focus away from the main image, so I finally used cardstock instead and embossed it with the beautiful Jeweled Snowflakes 3D embossing folder from Sizzix. I used my Glitter Gloss Aqua Shimmer brush to make the cardstock sparkly.
I kept the embellishing simple: I added a few enamal dots, including one of the front wheel of the scooter, and two little enamel hearts from Doodlebug to fill the space over the scooter. I used additional ephemera pieces to embellish the inside of the card and the front of the envelope.
