Inspiration: Card Maps October 2020
This is the fourth card that was born of my Trimming the Town embellishment-making session. The starting point was the long slim envelope. It didn't have an insert yet, so I created one using the Delightful Tag Topper punch. The white tag seemed a little blah, so I used Smoky Slate ink and the Birch background stamp to add a pattern. I then stamped a sentiment from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set and framed it in Poppy Parade cardstock using the Ornate Frames dies. I'm really glad to see those make a comeback, as they are one of my favorite die sets from Stampin' Up! You can choose to use the outside frame alone or use the middle shape as well, which I did here as I didn't want to hide the Birch pattern too much. Because I wanted to stamp the sentiment directly on the tag, I made sure to stamp off my Smoky Slate ink before adding the image to the tag, so get a less saturated colour.
For the background, I was looking at ribbon options to divide the two patterned papers and I realized it was too bad I had not purchased the Misty Moonlight ribbon. I realized I should look at retired ribbons to see if I could find something close and sure enough, last year's Night of Navy velvet ribbon looked really good with the paper collection, so that is what I used. As I went looking through embellishments trying to find my snowflake sequins, I also found mini jingle bells, so I decided to hang two red jingle bells from the ribbon bow, using red baker's twine.
The main envelope has been decorated with the Gift Wrap stamp and matching punch. I love that bundle and I keep going back to it. I find the shape and size of the bow really pleasing. The only thing not found in the set that I wish had been included in the stamp set is a simple bow with just the outside and now pattern, to match the punch. This would have worked way better here when used with patterned paper. I tried using the punch on its own, but I was not loving the look. (You will see the punched bow used somewhere else, as I recycled it on a tag.) Again the little border from the Smooth Sailing die set and the scalloped border from the Painted Labels dies were both used at the bottom of the envelope. Snowflake sequins and Trimming the Town embellishments were added to the card as a finishing touch.
