Inspiration: Just Add Ink #522
Rejoice: a new Lawn Fawn release is here! I was looking at the Sneak Peek videos posted this week and making a wish list and I was glad that the list was short - and then the full release was posted online and I realized that we had not seen the half of it!!! They basically just covered the fall stuff, and kept the Christmas stuff for another sneak peek week they'll do later in the season. The list got significantly longer once I spotted the Christmas stuff, which I can never resist.
Today's card is showcasing the Snow Globe Scenes stamp set and matching dies. When I saw that the Just Add Ink sketch had three squares, I figured I could do three snowglobes on my card, using different scenes in each. I also used the gorgeous Let It Shine patterned paper from this release as well. I loved it the second I saw it used on projects shared online and because of the name and what I had seen, I wrongly assumed that all of the papers would be gold foiled. I found out when the whole release posted that it is not. Three of the papers have gold foil polka dots on them: the mint, the cream and the red. The other pages have white dots on them and white stripes on the reverse side. I'll admit this was a little bit of a let-down. The silver lining is that my store owner purchased the gold-foil papers by the sheets, so I was able to just purchased those, so that made me happy.
The new release also includes gold metallic cardstock. I didn't purchase any since I already have some at home, which I did add to this project to line the main scene. Having just the mint panel felt a little blah, so I decided to get out my Slimline Stitched Hillside Border dies (from their summer release) and create snow banks out of the cream gold-foiled paper and that instantly made the card more interesting. I flipped the red paper over and used the diagonal stripes to vary the patterns.
The globes were colore with Copic markers. I gold-embossed a shooting star over the car and gold-embossed the little labels on gold-foiled paper, then added the three sentiments and embossed them in Pool Party powder, before adding them to the globes. I added snow details in glittery gel pen and created falling snow with my Gelly Roll white pen. I love the look this created.
The card format was chosen based on how side the three globes would be side by side and the sizes of cards I could make a matching envelope for with the use of my beloved envelope punch board. I ended up with a 4-1/4" x 7" card. (The size on the punch board is 4½ x 7", but I couldn't make a 4½"-wide card out of regular letter-sized cardstock, so I went down a quarter of an inch to accomodate that.) I used an old Nestabilities die set to make the address block on the envelope.
I colored and die-cut an additional globe to decorate the inside of the card.
