Inspiration: Global Design Project #258
I wanted to revisit some of my August-December Minicatalogue supplies, so I pulled out the Magic in This Night Designer Series Paper and the Have a Hoot stamp set. I cut three panels and inked the edges with a sponge dauber and Basic Grey ink. I die-cut the largest tags from the Peek-a-Hoot dies that match the stamp set, but it felt a little small, so I decided to fussy cut one of the Halloween doilies from the pattern paper, ink the edges with Cajun Craze ink and add it to the center of the card, along with a piece of metallic mesh ribbon (which I love!) and a spiderweb die-cut out of Brushed Metallic cardstock.
The last time I watercolored a sky, I thought after the fact that I should have used masking fluid before doing so. This time, I thought about it when I stamped my image, so I used my Molotow masking liquid marker to cover the moon, the owl and the branch and after it was fully dry, I watercolored the sky with Pretty Peacock ink. I then removed the masking fluid with an adhesive remover and I watercolored the rest of my image. (Side note: I used Cinnamon Cider for the owl, which is a nice cross between Early Espresso and Cajun Craze, so it was a good shade to tie in the owl color to the rest of the design and also have it be different from the branch's color.)
I wanted to include a sentiment and space was short on the tag, so I pulled out the Ornate Frames dies. My first try was with another sentiment on the small tag with the ornate ends, but after die-cutting it, I noticed it was cutting the first and last letters off and it was bothering me, so I selected another sentiment with another frame die, and I ended up recycling the first piece by gluing it underneath so that the flourishy ends are showing. I also inked the two pieces with Basic Grey ink. The sentiment was embossed in Copper powder. It's too bad this one was discontinued. I wish it was a permanent part of the embossing powder line just as gold and silver are.
To finish things off, I added two iridescent pearls on opposite corners and a blue adhesive-backed gem on the ribbon added to the tag. (Another discontinued ribbon, but I have so many spools, I'm trying to stick to new colors only and use what I have the rest of the time. I cut the ends using pinking shears.
A matching envelope was made out of the Designer Series Paper using the envelope punch board and the address block was created with the Stutched So Sweetly dies. (I've been using those a ton since they came out - definitely a good investment.)
