Inspiration: Mojo Monday Sketch #544
I remembered I had some Halloween-themed kits from Queen & Co, so I pulled them out to make sure they were included in my crafting. I had some leftover pieces from all of the Doodlebug stamp set images I had colored and I thought they would pair neatly with the Spider Web shaker kit from Queen & Co I had pulled out. This kit does not contain a lot, it only has the foam frame to make two shakers, but I'm okay with that as it was the actual spiderweb die that I was mostly after, and I can very easily use foam strips to create more shakers once the two from the set have been used.
On my last stop at Michaels, I randonly found a doily die that was just the perfect size and shape. I also found a 6" x 6" pad of chunky glitter paper in the sales bin for $3, which I used twice on this card: a purple sheet for the doily and a white sheet for the spiderweb background. I was wondering if the chunky glitter would die-cut neatly, and it does, so that was a good find.
The card design was inspired by the Mojo Monday sketch. I tried adding a second circle on my card, but I wasn't liking the look and how it was hiding the spiderweb centre, so I ended up only using the spider image as my second circle, and cutting the sentiment in little strips nstead.
The shaker was filled with a mix of sequins, pearl toppings and sead beads. I've struggled in the past to put in the correct amount of toppings so that the shaker does not look to empty once the card is up, and I like the quantity I got in here, so it looks right when the card is put upright.
Because the shaker is pretty thick, I made an oversized enveloppe using the same patterned paper collection and a few stickers. In recent years, I've purchased a few petite patterns collections from Doodlebug Design and I've found that it really helps me break up the busy patterns of their collections and have more design options. This is evidenced here with the green banner added to the card and the green gingham rectangle used for the address block on the envelope.
