Inspiration: Simon Says Stamp Monday (Add a Picture) + Page Maps sketch
I love the By the Sea collection from Carta Bella and I got quite a few sheets, including repeats of the gorgeous wood and shiplap patterns, which will make fantastic backgrounds (as evidenced here).
I used the sketch from challenge #508, but I played around with the picture placement to accommodate my pictures. The story behind this layout is that when we first got to Wasaga Beach, we saw a huge building further down the coast that the kids referred to as "the castle." The day we went to Collingwood, we stopped by the area to investigate. This ain't no castle - it's a century-old grain terminal! It looks more majestic from afar than up close. That being said, it is located right next to Millenium Park, which in turn is beautiful and has quite the view on the Georgian Bay, so we hung there for a while.
I embellished my layout with a mix of stickers and die-cuts (some punched out). I even recycled the company strip with the collection name and worked it in as a design element (the "By the Sea" with the lighthouses in the bottom left corner).
I love nautical stuff and I'm always drawn to it (the blues and turquoise shades, the stripes, the thick ropes), but when it comes to scrapbook collection, I don't always find it easy to use since I don't live near the beach. I have great hopes for this collection based on how easy it was to use on this layout. We'll see. I'll probably make a card as well before I the papers away, so I'll get to test my theory.
