Inspiration: Inspired #131 (Summer Please) + Little Red Wagon #556 (Summertime Fun)
I got my hand on the new Lawn Fawn release and got to playing today. The first set I reached for is Simply Celebrate Summer. As per the other seasonal Simply Celebrate sets, the little rows of seasonal items really appealed to me. I based the colour palette on the Color Throwdown challenge - only to realize this was last week's and already closed. Still, the colours were perfect for the items in my images.
The images were stamped in black ink on watercolor paper and colored with ink and both a blending pen and an aquapainter brush. I layered the images over 1" strips of cardstock, each embossed with a different embossing folder. I was planning on repeating a colour, but then I realized that the pineapples would look great over white embossed cardstock, which always look crisp and neat. I looked for a long narrow French sentiment I could put in the empty row. I found "Everything is more rosey with you," which is sweet and goes well with the little touch of pink in the card.
I added sequins and beads on some of the images to dress them up and dew drops on each side of the sentiment. I stamped the row of watermelon slices twice on a green envelope with VersaMark, adding clear embossing powder for a tone-on-tone glossy look.
