Inspiration: Simon Says Stamp Wednesday (Bright and Cheerful)
This is the last of the four images I had stamped on watercolour paper a few weeks ago and left aside to colour when I had a moment. This weekend, I grabbed the Oddball with a Coffee image and colored her with my Faber-Castell watercolor pencils. I didn't have a colour scheme in mind, so I just went with what grabbed my attention.
Today, when I sat dowb to stamp, I was trying to figure out how to work her into a design and I kept thinking about this funny saying I've heard many moons ago: I'll rise but I won't shine. With her coffee mug and deadpan look, the Oddball is personifying that saying quite well. I pulled out the Radiating Rays stencil from My Favorite Things and I used Wilted Violet and Chipped Sapphire for the background and Scattered Straw and Wild Honey for the rays and center.
To add my sentiment, I used the Birdie Brown Alphabet & Numbers stamp set and Oliver's Stitched ABC's dies for Rise and Shine. I masked the bottom of the cardstock and added Chipped Sapphire ink to ground the design. I colored the rays and the pink letters using Lawn Fawn's Liquid Stardust and popped the die-cut Oddball image on dimensional adhesive.
The finished card measures 3½" x 7". I'm really pleased with how it turnedo ut. This is very different from my usual style, so I'm happy that it turned out like I was envisioning.
