Inspiration: Simon Says Stamp Wednesday (Summer Fun)
The I Scream, You Scream dies from Lawn Fawn were not initially on my short list of items I wanted, but I found them in the Clearance section of my local store at a reasonable price. They were purchased quite a while ago, out of season, so they have sat unused in my stash until today. I was trying to spark inspiration this afternoon and I decided to ink white cardstock with Distress Oxide inks before die-cutting my pieces. I didn't have a specific colour scheme selected when I started but I did have the sorbet shades from an old Stampin' Up! collection in the back of my mind (and incidentally, I happened to work the washi tape from that collection into my design later).
Once my three frozen treats were created, I went to my Lawn Fawn patterned papers to find something suitable for my background and ended up using three papers from the Hello Sunshine Remix pack. The heart banner is perfect as the pattern is very subtle, and I added some pink and blue at the top and bottom.
I then went looking for a long horizontal sentiment and found "Happy Birthday" in a very nice script font in the Happy Birthday to You (from this year's SAB offering). I added washi tape at the top and Early Espresso baker's twine at the bottom and added my die-cut images with dimensional adhesive. I also used foam between the patterned paper and card base for additional depth. The first ice cream cone had already the bite mark, but it felt a little bare compared to the other treats, so I die-cut some sprinkles out of the Watercolor Wishes patterned paper to dress it up. I then added gems and sequins to finish my creation.
I used the same washi tape inside the card and on the matching envelope. It felt too bare and I didn't really feel like inking up cardstock again, so I took a shortcut and made a new die-cut cone using the Watercolor Wishes patterned papers instead, which looks really cute but was much faster.
