Inspiration: Mojo Monday #513 + Try Stampin' on Tuesday #459
It's a little random that I'm putting together Christmas cards when the weather outside is finally 40 Celcius with the humidex factor (on a side note, I went from wearing knit sweaters to shorts and t-shirts in a span of two weeks - crazy!). They were inspired by a decoupage kit I found while rearranging my papers. It was late and I figured I could quickly put the images together while watching crafting videos on YouTube. As I was assembling the kit's images, I realized that the scene colours might work with the Frosted papers from KaiserCraft. I pulled the 6" x 6" paper pad and indeed, they look gorgeous paired together. That's when inspiration started flowing and so I kept going, putting the first card together.
I used one of the vintage picture cut-apart images from the pad to stick behind my main image and the sentiment circle was also part of the die-cut inserts at the end of the pad. I glued Distress mica flakes around the central patterned paper to stay with the vintage look. The navy corners are part of the decoupage kit and the silver foiled snowflakes too. I really like how this one turned out, it's very elegant.
The following night, I decided to make a card with the second image while all of the supplies were still out. I looked at challenge sketches for inspiration and decided to use the one from Try Stampin' on Tuesday. I will admit that it is not that obvious now that the card has been heavily layered, but the sketch was my starting point. I initially planned on tucking the sentiment die-cut underneath my papers, but it just didn't look as pretty as when I was adding it over using Dimensionals, so I just went with what looked best. I love how this one turned out as well, and I'm looking forward to using those to sent out wishes at Christmas time this year.
