Inspiration: Fab Friday #186
When I saw the beautiful color combo from Fab Friday, I immediately got inspired to pull out my inks and play. I had a handful of ideas on how to use the colour combo, but the one that was first and foremost was creating a sunset using blended inks. It's also fun to note that the Classic inks from Stampin' Up! will react to spritzed water since it is water based (granted, not as much as the Distress inks do, but still enough to add texture to the inked panel.)
I stamped the row of flower image from the Painted Poppies set in VersaMark ink repeatedly and embossed the image with black powder. I then ink blended the four colours from the challenge in a gradient. I looked at sentiment options and picked the "Grateful" definition from the Praiseworthy Prose stamp set, which was filling the space nicely. I initially planned on stamping the sentiment in black, but I used Soft Suede ink on my Stamp-A-Ma-Jig sheet to avoid staining and I found I liked the look of the soft brown against the yellow sky, so I stuck with that instead.
On a whim, I also used the honeycomb pattern from the same set to add a bit of texture in the area that was left open on the left of the panel, using Mango Melody ink. I then added sequins from the Peaceful Poppies pack to decorate the card a bit. I matted the panel with the striped pattern from the Golden Honey DSP. (I ended up with 3 packs of this paper since most of the SAB items were sold out when I placed my last order, so I am probably going to be using it generously. Here, I made a matching envelope since my card is a non-standard size at 6-1/2" x 3-1/4".) I used the Stitched So Sweetly dies to make a mat from the address.
