Inspiration: CAS Colours & Sketches #360 + MFT Sketch #479
If you've followed my blog, you know I can't resist the Peek-a-Boo serie from Avery Elle. Everything in it is just so adorable and very easy to work into designs of all kinds. I was really excited to spot a couple of new sets in the Creativation videos, and this card today features the Peek-A-Boo Jungle stamp set and dies. I had some retired papers (Tropical Escape DSP) with tropical designs that were perfect for this set and for the CAS colour challenge. I'm always a little hesitant to enter the CAS challenges, as my style is not CAS, but the truth is, they always have strong sketches and colour combos which end up inspiring me, so it feels right to credit them as my source of inspiration and link to their challenge so that others can find it as well. I've also seen a lot of challenge sites come and go ovefr the years, so I think it's important for the site contributors to know that their work IS inspiring crafters and sparking creativity. But with that being said, this card has too many elements to its design to be considered Clean & Simple.
The MFT sketch was also perfect, with its central banner element, as the stamp set includes a cute banner. The set comes with great wishes in just the right size, but I had to hunt down something that would work equally well amongst my French stamps. I pulled out "Birthday Wishes" from the French version of the Various Vases stamp set. I realized I've used the sentiments from this stamp set quite a few times, in parts because it seems I don't have that many French sentiments on one long line. With banners being all the rage, this results in me often using the same stamps over and over again - as I realized when I pulled this sentiment once again.
The animals were colored with Copic markers and die-cut, then added behind the banner. A piece of Garden Green and white baker's twine was tied at the bottom, and I added a Tropical Elements button to the top circle. (The circles were die-cut using my Wonky Stitched Circles Die-namics, which add just the perfect uneven sttiching to the circles. I also used the Rectangle version for my backdrop paper piece.) I then added a few dots of Bubblegum Blush and Pioneer Green Nuvo drops. I then picked a Rose Quartz metallic envelope to go with the card and I embossed the leaf image in deep green embossing powder at the bottom to match.
