Inspiration: Festive Friday #54 (pastel colours + stitching + glossy effect) + The Paper Players #481
I wanted to use my Snow Buddies stamp set and I had put aside the Freezin' Season papers from Simple Stories to pair with it. The colours were perfect for the Paper Players challenge, so I pulled the papers out and started looking for what I could use with the stamps. I realized one of the cut-aparts, with the house row, would make a great background for an outdoor scene. It's a 4" x 6" die-cut, so I was planning to die-cut it with a stitched rectangle die to make it card-size, but then I realized that my little characters would be almost entirely hiding the houses. So I pulled out some Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper and die-cut it with the Simple Stitched Hillside Borders dies to create some snow, which I glued to the bottom of the houses in order to raise the horizon line in my die-cut rectangle.
I stamped, colored and die-cut the images and I started putting together the scene. I used one layer of dimensional foam behind the snowman and two layers behind the dog and the little girl. I then looked at sentiment options and I decided to use something from the stamp set itself. I stamped the sentiment in Pretty Peacock ink and added Patina Oxide Baked Textured embossing powder over it.
The middle of the card felt a little bare, so I went back to the stamp set and pulled the snowball image, which I colored and die-cut. It's a small element, but it helped with the balance of the design. Finally, I added Glossy Accents in the window and inside the sentiment's letters, Fresh Snowfall glitter accents to the roofs and Fairy Wings Dream Drops everywhere as falling snow (in the sky, over the houses and characters and I even added a drop on the dog's nose, which goes well with his surprised expression.)
I picked a teal envelope to go with my card, which I decorated with some die-cuts I have from the same paper collection and a few more Dream Drops.
