This card is not my design at all. It was inspired by a card from Kristina Werner shared on her YouTube channel here. I was curious to test the new Fluid 100 watercolor paper Stampin' Up! added to its catalogue this year (verdict: it's really great and the ink moves really well on it) and also to see if you could have the Classic ink react to water after being put down on paper (verdict: not the way Distress inks will react, but you can certainly get some results). It was also fun to take a design and see how I could recreate it with current Stampin' Up! supplies. I'm behind on sending cards to make downline members, so I need to crank out a few Stampin' Up! creations to catch up.
The cute-font sentiment is from the Peaceful Moments set from the January-June minicatalogue. I was on the fence about this set and I ended up going for it because it has different French seniments and in a unique font that I don't have in any of my other sets. I did two sizes of die-cut hearts, with Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper. The small heart comes from the Les bons mots die set and the larger one from the Stitched Labels dies. I also added a few rhinestones here and there and I diluted White Frost Glimmer Paint on a clear block and splattered it on the card with a paintbrush. It didn't look like much when the card was in the splatbox, but when it catches the light, wowza!
The watercolor gradient was created with only three colours of ink: Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point and Rich Razzleberry. I love the result. I made my cardbase Pacific Point, mostly because this is a colour of cardstock I rarely every use. Can't really explain why, as I do find the colour appealing, but I have trouble working it into colour combos. It'd be interesting to see my Stampin' Up! colour stats, as I strongly suspect I use 20% of their colours 80% of the time. (Isn't that what they also say about a woman's wardrobe, that she wears 20% of her clothes 80% of the time? ;P)
