Inspiration: Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #375 + MFT Color Challenge #138 + The Paper Players #484 (ribbon + die-cut + pink)
I picked this SAB set in my preorder and I have used the embossing folder in the past few months, but it took me this month to find inspiration for the stamp set. The small scalloped rectangle from the sketch made me think I could use the Stitched So Sweetly dies and use the small images from the Power of Hope stamp set.
I decided to use watercolor paper for the background so that I could do a watercolor wash behind the main image. Then I spotted the lantern from the set and decided to add a row at an angle to fill in the corner.
I then used watercolor paper inside the scalloped rectangle as well and I stamped and watercolored the temple image. I stamped the lady on a separate piece of watercolor and handcut her out after watercoloring the image. I kept thinking gold would have looked really good on the images and then I remembered that we still carry the Champagne Mist shimmer paint, so i used a small paintbrush to add paint on the temple, on the lanterns and to draw a pattern on the kimono. It instantly gave the image more depth and interest. Since the paint was out, I got the idea to add splatter over my watercolor wash. As I was mounting the main image, I decided to add a loop of Lovely Lipstick ribbon behind it, and I finished the card off with faceted gems (from the 2020 minicatalogue).
I am very happy with how this card turned out. I will point out again that I'm really liking the Fluid 100 watercolor paper Stampin' Up! is selling. The results on it are top notch.
