Inspiration: Freshly Made Sketch #428
I have been wanting to make a card with the bumper car from the Peek-A-Boo Fair stamp set for a while, but I was not finding the right patterned papers for it. Today, after making a scrapbook page with the Summer Lights papers from Pink Paislee, I decided to use the remaining scraps to make a bumper car card.
I die-cut a piece of popsicle paper with the Dotted Rectangles dies, matted it with Lovely Lipstick cardstock and added the panel to a Pineapple Punch card base. I used a word die-cut I had leftover from the page at an angle across the card and I added silver star washi tape between the two words.
I die-cut a star with the Outside In Stitched Star Stackables dies out of Holo Waves mirror card by Tonic. I layered a Swimming Pool doily from Doodlebug over it and added my bumper car using a mini action wobble.
I looked for a sentiment that I could split and turn into strips to add to the side of the image. In the Birthday Bright stamp set, I found wording that I thought could work well with the bumper car. They are not meant to go together in the stamp set because we're missing a word (which is really too bad) but by using a small alphabet set and my square punch, I was able to fill in the gap. I used the banner from the stamp set for the first word, since it's angled and I was worried it would look crooked if I cut it out in a strip. For the last word, I remembered Stampin' Up! was carrying ombre ink pads a few years back and had sent me some when I made some samples for an event. I was wondering if they would be bone dry by now, but it turns out they still inked properly. I used the peach one and got an obre look, which goes well with the ombre you see on the popsicles from the patterned paper.
I added little embellishments here and there on the card, including a glittery star on the bumper car, and I created a handmade envelope since I wanted to leave the star hanging over the edge of the card, therefore needing something wider than an A2 envelope.
