Inspiration: Mojo Monday #532 + SUO #244 (coloring)
This card was inspired by supplies found in my last order. You'll recognize a few SAB freebies: the Flowering Foils Specialty paper, the Lily Impressions DSP, the baker's twine (unfortunately sold out already) and the LIly Pad dies. They were all combined with the A Good Man stamp set. I love sketch images and can always use more masculine options, so I've been eyeing this one since the catalogue came out, but ultimately, it was because it includes a number of great French sentiments that I added this one to my collection. The sentiment used here is pretty generic ("Happy Birthday Dad!"), but I picked it because it fit in the Stitched So Sweetly dies. (I was surprised by the size of those dies, I imagined them a little larger. The largest scalloped rectangle is not even close to a card-front size. That's okay, I'll still get use out of them, but to give you an idea of scale, I used the largest of the four tag shapes on the envelope for the address block and it will do, but I would have preferred if it had been just an inch wider.)
The image was colored on watercolor paper using Aqua Painter brushes and ink picked directly in my ink pad lids. I used Soft Suede to add shading and it made a huge difference in giving life to the scene. I used Seaside Spray to add colour to the sky and for some reason, the ink dyed the watercolor paper instantly instead of spreading like it had elsewhere. Initially, I was miffed but after I was finished, I realized it looks like a shadow cast against a wall and the result is pretty cool.
The background paper is from the Flowering Foils collection. It's white with a copper grid, but I sponged Petal Pink ink on it. I kept the copper tones by using Copper Foil Sheets to die-cut the border from the Lily Pad dies. I also included a Star Designer Elements (sold in the Holidays catalogue, but it looks like they are still available) on the sentiment block and Blackberry Bliss Faceted Dots on the die-cut border (now retired).
