Inspiration: Just Us Girls #508 (Designer Paper) + Tuesday Morning Sketches #523
This was fun to make! I love the Peek-a-Boo stamps from Avery Elle, they are just so adorable. I snatched a set of the Summer Pals version when my local store got it in stock and this is my first creation with it. (The weather dropped way below pool weather but I guess we can reminisce about warmer weather with paper and stamps.)
I picked the Paradise Beach papers and prepared a frame based on the Tuesday Morning sketch (rotated 90 degrees). I then cut a wonky rectangle frame and I found a piece of patterned paper with waves on it that I picked to fill out the frame. I stamped all of the animals from the set, figuring I'd pick and choose what to fill the frame with and use the rest on the envelope and inside the card. The images were colored with markers in colored matching the papers and I die-cut all of the little pieces. Once I started placing the animals in the frame, I realized I should do two rows to fill the frame out better and I realized I could use the curve between the two colours to set up my top row. I cut the paper apart following the curve line and I added dimensional adhesive underneath the bottom part (the green wave). I was then able to glue the shark, frog and toucan underneath the wave and their paws over it.
For the bottom row, I glue the dolphin underneath the frame edge and added its fins. I placed the seahorse inside the floatie and decided I would add it on a a mini action wobble so it looks like it's bobbing on the eaves. I stamped the words "Just For You" and embossed them in Calypso Coral embossing powder on patterned paper and used the Ornate Frames dies from Stampin' Up! to die-cut the sentiment. (I have been raving about those. You get 11 in the set of all sizes and shapes and they're great for way more than Halloween - make sure to check them out!)
I used the smaller wonky frame twice, to add on the envelope and inside the card and I added the flamingo and the seagull in them. By the way, if you are wondering how I picked which animals to add to the card, it was quite easy: it was based on which way they were facing. The frog was the only one facing forward so it went in the middle and then I selected animals that faced towards the center of the card for each side. I really thought I would be using the flamingo since I found it really cute, but I have to say, she looks quite nice popping against the green and teal on the envelope, so it all worked out. I think I'll leave this card out on my desk for a little while. Looking at it instantly puts me in a good mood. Look at those cute, contented faces, how can you not smile when looking at them?
