Inspiration: Just Add Ink #478 (Just Add H) + Simon Says Stamp Wednesday (Christmas)
The inspiration letter from Just Add Ink is H, which kept bringing me back to the word "Hiver" (winter). I had the perfect papers in the Feels Like Frost paper stack. I love those papers - the soft colors and silver foil are gorgeous. For the layout, I pulled out my Cardmaps 5 publication and picked one of the bonus sketches at the end. I knew the skate image would be perfect, so I stamped the skate twice in Night of Navy cardstock on Thick Whisper White cardstock and die-cut them out. I then watercolored them using ink.
Since the Free Skate stamp set is only offered in English, I went looking for a French sentiment in my other sets. I found "Have a nice Holiday season" in the Christmas Traditions stamp set from the punch box kit offered last year. I got it on the sale at the end of the catalogue period, which was late in the season, so I hadn't had the chance to ink it up yet. I liked how the shape of the sentiment fit the curve of the skate nicely, so I stamped it on patterned paper from the same collection and die-cut with the Stitched Shapes dies.
I wanted to watercolor the holly and berry image amd to stamp the image in Night of Navy to match the rest of the card so to avoid ink bleeding, I pourred clear embossing powder on the ink before it dried to protect the ink and be able to watercolor. I used Rococo Rose and Soft Sea Foam. Those two colors look great with Purple Posy. Now that the ink is finally available, I'll have to revisit that soft color combo on other projects.
