Inspiration: CAS(E) This Sketch #340 + Create with Connie and Mary #579
Clean and simple is definitely not part of my usual brand. But once in a while I'll get an idea and manage to execute it well enough to be happy with the result. I have major respect for crafters who do CAS well. It seems simple because there's not a lot of elements on the project, but that's exactly where the challenge lies: how do you make the project interest, then?
What sparked the inspiration for me today was spotting the cute image of the fairy peeking through a hole from the New Wonders hostess set. I realized it could very well stand on its own and would work well with the CAS(E) This Sketch. I could have done a one-layer card, but because the image was so small, it did want to make sure I had one of the colours around the edge to make the project more colorful. The image was stamped in Basic Grey ink and colored with Stampin' Blends. I didn't have Grapefruit Grove markers so I got creative and mixed the So Saffron markers with the pale Cajun Craze and Pumpkin pie. I love the mix that produced - it looks like the hole is backlit. Because the image has a few hearts and stars around it, it gave me the idea of sprinkle some of the Woven Threads sequins around. I basically took a pinch of sequins and let them fall on the card and glued them exactly where they fell. I then looked at my French sentiment dies and selected the word "hurray".
The flourish at the bottom was a last-minute idea. I spotted the flourish in the die set and thought it would look pretty done in white, tone on tone. I really like the images from this illustrator and I hope we see more of his/her work in future catalogues.
